During the PhD path, we often underestimate how much we master not only the knowledge specific to our field, but also more generic skills, the transferable skills.

By the way, do you know the value of the tasks you perform every day? Would you like to take a step back to get to know yourself better, and to take stock of your talents? Do you need guidance to expand and boost your skill set?

This workshop has been specifically designed as a toolbox and is based on the specific needs of the CUSO doctoral candidates community. It is articulated in four steps:

• Understanding the value of transferable skills
• Knowing how to recognize them
• Learning how to orientate yourself within the training offers to develop your transferable skills
• Succeed in promoting them to others.

Don't forget: the skills for your PhD are the skills for your career!

• Precisely define what a transferable skill is
• Translate your actions into know-how and begin to establish your personal skill assessment
• Become aware of your talents and develop your confidence
• Plan the development of your transferable skills

Holder of a PhD in Life Sciences, previously coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Ecology and Evolution, Dr Caroline Betto-Colliard is since 2017 deputy to the CUSO Secretary General. Her professional practice focuses on the quantitative and qualitative aspects of doctoral research in Switzerland, the valorization of the doctorate and the promotion of university cooperation in French-speaking Switzerland in the field of doctoral education. She is also involved in the organization of the "My thesis in 180 seconds" competition and several events dedicated to PhD students, coordinators, and directors of the CUSO programs.

Particularly committed to accompanying young PhDs during their integration into the professional world, she recently participated to develop a video series entitled "A PhD... And after? ».

She is TRIMA certified.

Participants are eligible for reimbursement of incurred travel expenses by train between the city of their university and the location of the workshop (half-fare card, 2nd class).
