Description

Performing in the storm: Understand and Stop Procrastination and Get Back on the Horse (705)

Energy and Stress Management Workout Series Workout #5

As a doctoral student or researcher, you may face an increasing demand on your time: there is a continuous flow of tasks, emails, and meetings calling for your immediate attention next to your own ambitious projects. This may result in unrealistic expectations on what can be achieved in a day especially in times like these, when opportunities for balancing activities like sports or seeing friends are severely limited. Eventually, even high performers struggle to stay motivated and to deliver and end up depleted until, inevitably, performance will drop. Then it is important to rebound quickly. The Workouts are highly experiential and intensive. You work on your own life situation. Therefore, we ask you to bring a story to share that is relevant to the topic. In each Workout, you will learn how to shift your mindset, acquire one or two state-of-the-art techniques for your self-management, and create a practice that will help you to navigate stressful situations in the future. Every Workout is a standalone training that can be taken without attending the other Workouts.

This Workout will help you to understand and overcome procrastination. Most of us know are very familiar with procrastination: we want to get things done, yet procrastination gets in the way, and we fail to accomplish our task, even when we are well aware of its negative consequences.
This Workout will help you to better understand and overcome procrastination.

By the end of this workshop you will :

i) learn how to recognize procrastination patterns,

ii) know what type of procrastinator you are and

iii) acquire practical tips on how to tackle procrastination, including how to set powerful intentions and the 2-minute rule.

Altogether, these learnings will help you to overcome procrastination and to get “back on the horse” should it occur again.
