Do you need to use English at conferences or seminars? Would you like to feel more confident when expressing yourself in English? We will work on spoken communication in formal and informal situations in the following ways:

• talking about oneself and one’s field of study;
• introducing speakers;
• expressing opinions and ideas clearly;
• defining concepts;
• asking and responding to questions effectively;
• delivery and pronunciation ;
• structuring a formal presentation;
• giving a presentation with peer evaluation and formative assessment;
• preparing an abstract.

After the first day of training, participants will be asked to prepare a presentation of their research subject in PowerPoint format.

Niveau d'anglais: Dès B1-B2, merci d'évaluer votre niveau sur la base de la grille d'autoévaluation du conseil de l'Europe que vous trouvez ici. L'enseignement sera donné en anglais.

Intervenante : Mme Humphry-Baker est écossaise et vit en Suisse depuis 1978. Licenciée ès Lettres de l'Université de Southampton, elle enseigne l'anglais depuis de nombreuses années et s'intéresse à tous les aspects de l'enseignement des langues étrangères. Elle enseigne actuellement au Centre de langues de l'Université de Lausanne.

Participants are eligible for reimbursement of incurred travel expenses by train between the town of their university and the location of the workshop (half-fare card, 2nd class).
